hi, i just downloaded the source of dnn 5.5.0 in a win7 x64 computer with vs2010, and i would like to start the project fro vs to start developing some modules, but i have a problem.
i created a sql db in my sql server to run dnn, but when i start dnn from vs and i arrive to the database creation page i received the javascript error "dnn is undefined", in the installation list the string Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...
after this nothing happens, the gauge cotninues to scroll but the tables are not created in the db-
how can i solve the problem?

best regards,

Looks to me that you have not the correct file and folder permissions to the DNN files, and not set access permissions for access script and executable files on the IIS.  Also the database user must have dbOwner permissions and mist be added to the database.

the check of the file system in the previous step of the installation wizard was ok, i applied full control to network service to all the source directory and subdirectory, and the db user configuration is the same that i use installing normally dnn.
i receive no error message, just do nothing

I'm having a similar problem today. I set all permissions/access control. started installer, no errors, but it's been hanging on "Installing Database - Version 05.00.00..." for over two hours. I checked the database and it is populated.

So I'm not sure what the problem is. It just hangs forever. I guess I'll let it run over night, but I can't imagine that it would take more than 45 minutes to complete the install.

Prior to extracting from the zip package be sure that you first right-click over the .zip file icon, select "Properties" from the context menu, and click "Unblock" if an "Unblock" button is show. Otherwise, some files (including .js script files and .vb code files) will not be extracted as Windows continues them a security threat.

Also when installing on Windows 7, remember that IIS 7.5 by default does not use "Network Service" as the ASP.Net worker process account. Here's an article from IIS.Net which explains the differences: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/624/ap... . You will either need to change the Identity account  for the DefaultAppPool to Network Service or if preferred use a custom account to which you will need to grant full permission from the root of the installation folder on down.

Finally, when doing a source package install, remember that you want the IIS Application Physical Path to point to the Website folder, not to its parent folder into which you unzipped the package.
