I have just recently taken a backup of my live site and database and begun development of some custom modules.

However when i begin testing the local site on my machine, it runs really slow (alot worse that it does on the production server).

Is there is some settings in IIS or SQL Server that I can tweak to make it run better, I would think that running on my local machine would have better performance than on a shared hosted server, however its just not the case.

Sometimes when accessing the pages within Admin and Host sections I get "Connection to the server was reset" and the page will not load.

Any help here would be much appreciated as its very annoying working on such a slow site.

My computer specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit
4gb ram
AMD Phenom X4 955 3.20 GHZ

Visual Studio 2008
SQL Server 2008
IIS7

Glad to hear it worked.

But you should be safe with just disabling the "online shield" in AVG rather than removing it, if you still want AVG. Aside from this issue, I feel AVG is still a good (free!) antivirus.

Cheers
