Hello all,

I need to capture some data about my users on the client side and then store that data somewhere on the server side (ideally attached to the user's account).  The data is simple profile type data that's being pulled over from the LinkedIn API by some custom Javascript (I'm using the Advanced Login module from Interactive Webs for Linkedin integration.)

As a test, I was able to render the collected data inside a Text/HTML module by using Javascript to inject the content.  However, what I really want to do is take the data and store it on the server, ideally attached to the user's profile, either when they register on the site or when they log in.  This should happen in the background and be transparent to the user.  The whole idea here is to keep the signup process as absolutely streamlined as possible and for us to pull whatever profile data we need (which the users have granted access to) in the background from Linkedin.

I was thinking about maybe creating a custom profile field to store this data, and then somehow updating that field from my Javascript upon registration or login.  However, I'm not familiar enough with DNN development to know the best way to approach this.  How would you do it?  Is there some builtin functionality that would allow me to post data to a user's profile from client side Javascript?  Should I write a custom module that can take the data and store it in the profile, maybe via a hidden form or something along that line?  I'm looking for ideas on how some of you might approach this.

Thanks in advance!

have a look at CodeEndeavour module template on codeplex, john did a great job with data handling between server and client.
