I have an issue that I need help resolving.  I am trying to add Zopim Live Chat to a DNN website.  My client is running on an older version of DNN.  The instructions to install the Live Chat into the website were to copy and paste a javascript between the <head> and </head> tags on the page.  I did that, then hit "Update."  I logged out of the Admin and then refreshed the Home Page to run some testing.  While testing, not only did I find that the Live Chat was not functioning, I also notices that I can no longer login to the Admin Panel through the Home Page.  The "Login" and "Register" links on the Home Page are not functioning.  If I go to another page on the site, I am able to click "Login" and it takes me to the Login form, however when I type the User Name and Password and click "Login", nothing happens.  Looking at the source code, I notice that there may be an error in the coding.  I am not sure what to do as I can no longer access the Admin portal to make edits on the website.  Any suggestions?

How did you paste the JavaScript? Did you modify the default.aspx? This is not a good idea, because it can be overwritten by an upgrade.

To inject all type of content, I recommend Will Strohl's Content Injection module available on CodePlex.

The fact that the login and register links do not work is most likely caused by the JavaScript or by the way you inject it. Maybe the above mentioned module helps, otherwise you have to analyze the script if it modifies any links or conflicts with other scripts on the page (jQuery in menu etc...)

Anyway: Better look for a DNN Chat module instead of adding a chat from somewhere else via IFrame, JavaScripts etc. Example: Swirl Chat.

Best wishes

I inserted the script by logging in as the Admin user, clicking "Page Settings" and then pasted the script in the text box.  Are you saying that this can be over-written when performing an upgrade?

Since this has disabled me from logging in directly from the site as the Admin, how can I go about fixing this issue?  (As you can see, I am quite new to DNN.)  Will I need to access it from the hosting side?  I would like to upgrade to the latest version as I believe the current version is 4.0.  What is the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks

No, this cannot be overwritten by an update. When you can't login, then you can try to find it in the database (table TabModules, field Header) and set this field to NULL.

Best wishes
