1) Why do you create the table only if it does not exist? Where is the guarantee that it is the correct version of the table etc.? I would first check if it exists, if yes delete it and then create it.

oops, I fear this is not the proper idea - you might loose data. Tables need to be handled differently than views and code.

Check for fields, indexes and constraints individually. Indexes and constraints may be deleted and rebuilt w/o affecting data, however, before adding constraints, make sure, the data meets the new rule.

Mile, again, please remove location specific attributes - you never know the partitions being used etc. remove these statements and SQL server will use db defaults.

Hi Sebastian,

I am very rusty on MS-SQL (have been using Firebird and Advantage Database Server instead for years.

What are the location specific attributes in my script?

Mike, "WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY]" should all be removed (but make sure, braces are properly closed).

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
