ERROR: The Site Alias Name You Specified Already Exists. Please Choose A Different Site Alias.

DNN INFO:
Product: DNN Platform
Version: 07.03.03 (117)
Data Provider: SqlDataProvider
.NET Framework: 4.0

------------------------------------------------------------------

If we have a domain name and we went to setup a new alias for them we are unable to do so.  For example lets use dnnsoftware.com for our example.  IF we wanted to setup STORE.Dnnsoftware.com we are not able to do so.  If we anted to do FORUM.Dnnsoftware.com we are not able to do so.  Those aliases prior to this attempt did not exist in either the DNN or DNS.  We have deleted the DNN and reinstalled the software on the server and still receiving this issue.

PLEASE DO NOT TELL US THEY ARE TRYING TO FIX THIS.  This has been going on for MONTHS ON MONTHS.  Have posted this message many times and so has another friend of mine.  We are in need of help.

To drive around this, if you make your original alias www.dnnsoftware.com then add store.dnnsoftware.com does it work fine?

Replying to multiple threads, then starting a new thread, is a great way to clutter up a forum with useless blabber btw.

this was believed fixed in 7.3.4 but was reopened and assigned to 7.4.0 to be fixed. Unfortunately there was insufficient time to fix it, but the workaround is simple (as per Juliens comment at https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/brow... "just add a / at the end , it will be stripped when stored in the database "

Thanks for the help on this. We are now able to create sites within the DNN by adding "/" at the end of the alias. However now the sites are being directed to the primary domain rather to the alias. For example... forum.dnnsoftware.com goes to dnnsoftware.com. Might be a DNS issue here.

Chris, I agree with only 1 post. There is only 1 problem with that. We have tried for over a 1/2 year to get an answer and nothing. Each post we gave the most information possible and answered the questions presented. The only answers we were receiving was wait for the new fix. You were the only person to come back with a valid fix. Now since we can create aliases we will focus on the DNS to see why the alias is pointing to the primary URL.

IF you guys have any suggestions on this please do advise.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!! You have been great.
