Hi Guys,

We got asked by a DNN user on 7.4.1 to take over the hosting of their DNN site.  They apparently were having problems with their current provider.  We agreed and asked the encumbant for a SQL backup and the front end files.

They said they couldnt do that as they have a single DNN instance and every single customer of theirs is just set up as a portal rather than its own website. This caused problems for them, the reason we won this client is because the encumbant crashed another one of this customers websites when they upgraded their instance and one of their custom modules stopped working.

Now the partner is demanding that we go and re-buy the modules used by this client and that all he can give us is a template export so we have to hope and prey that all the content in all the modules will export / import correctly or we will have to build this entire site up by hand.

This seems like a less than ideal way to do it and that the result for the customer could be expensive.  

Has anyone seen this before, is it an acceptable practice?  

Cheers Sebastian, I certainly hadnt considered having him duplicate his instance and remove the other sites, that would be preferable to what we are facing although judging by the way this guy charges it may be cheaper to rebuild the site from scratch.

Just to check, outside of a solution to the problem, does this seem like a suitable implementation method for someone hosting DNN sites? I would have assumed there is something in the DNN T&Cs that would prevent this sort of thing?
