HI everyone, I want to create a module about user and role manager. It should have ability to update the rolename, but when I use the UpdateRole funtion provided by DNN, it only update the role's description, not the rolename as I wanted. And I am a newbie in ASP.NET so can anyone tell me how can I connect to database and change the rolename directly from there?

Thank in advance

You can do this  by either:

a) access the DB directly in SQL Server enterprise manager

or

b) When logged in go to  Host > Sql from DNN

After you have the DB (or sql window openend) then

select * from roles where rolename='old name'   // get your list of potential roles to change

update roles set rolename='new name' where id=[role_id] // update the name of the role you want to change

please be aware, that all users need to logout and login again to get this chage applied, because role names (instead of role IDs) are stored in a cookie.
