Hi All,

I would like to create a table of out going emails, only have them delayed until a certain date and time.  Is their a way to create a service that will look at a table every 5 mins (for example) and send the scheduled emails to the recipiants.  The subject & body would also come from the same table.

Would love to hear if this is possible.

Cheers,

Ryan

this cannot be done currently without modifying the core framework.

There are plans to improve the mail send option using a separate provider.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your help.  This seems like a very powerful service to add to the DNN Framework.  I am sure many people, and many modules would benifit from this.  I would love to beta test if it does eventuate.

Cheers,

Ryan

Sebastian's correct, work is being done in  this are - expect it to be released in the next feature release (date not set yet, but expected Q1 this year). The actual enhancement involves adding support for a provider based model for portal messaging. The default provider will be email and the existing mail classes will be reworked to use the portal messaging enhacement. This means that other providers could be easily created e.g. twitter, exchange etc or indeed your use case of adding rows to a table.
