 Hi,

I have a module that I am developing that has multiple Module definitions. The module allows the user to fill out information and then submit it. Some of the data is entered on a page associated with one definition, the rest of the data is entered on another page associated with a different definition. Both of these pages are in the same module and on the same DNN page.

I have a save button that I want to get the entered values in the textbox for each of the seperate definition pages.

Is this possible? I have searched google for everything I can think of and cannot find anyone talking about doing this.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, I am not sure why you used separate definitions (you may have a good reason) but typically I wouldn't create a separate definition in a scenario like this. Without putting the data in the database, or in cache, I am not sure how you can get at it. There is IMC (Inter Module Communication) you can look at but I am not sure it will help you here.

Hi,

The reason I did this is because I am trying to separate some entry fields, One section to enter contact info another to enter Claim Info. If I put it all on one page then it will be one really long page. I am using LiveTabs to make it so each module definition can be added to a separate Tab in live tabs, making the look of everything much smoother.

Hopefully that makes sense. Maybe there is a better way to do this though?

I will look into Inter Module Communcation.

Thanks,

Chris

Personally I would still use one module. You can show different 'steps' in a number of ways using the same module. You could put things on the same control and show/hide things (not always the best case, especially if there is a lot of stuff). You could load separate ascx controls using the same module, but you would still need to persist that information from one ascx to another. I think going with multiple definitions for this is really the wrong way to go about it though.

By using seperate ascx controls you mean putting another ascx page under the same module, but with a "View" type and a Key that I name myself and then just redirect to them?

I am thinking I am either going to have to put "save" buttons on each of my pages, or try to get IMC working.

Thanks for the help.

Chris
