The full user's guide to module development in Support > Documentation is for DNN 4.0. Things are different with 5.x, but I can't find information on exactly what or how it's different.

Can anyone tell me if that guide will be close enough, or if I should look elsewhere? It's a pretty big file to read through and find out that it's completely useless for 5.x.

Or is there a good resource out there for general module development in DNN 5.x? I don't need specifics yet, just a getting started guide or a basic "how this works" kind of thing would be great for now.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

I believe the guide is still fairly close.

There is also my book Professional DotnetNuke Module Programming that covers it as well.

Haha the post made me laugh. If you think it's too big to read, can you imagine how hard it was for me to write the darn thing :) Everything in that guide will still work with DNN 5.

However, I also have some DNN 5 stuff here:

DotNetNuke 5 Hello World http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNu...

I have a DNN5 book coming out but it's not out yet. If you need a book Mitchel's book is also a good one.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. The Hello World module is exactly what I needed: something quick and easy just to sort of break the surface and get things moving for me. Many thanks! Rob

If you are interested in more tutorials on DNN 5 module development I have put some stuff together at http://www.sipidcode.com/post/DotNetN....
It's nowhere near Michaels great material, but I hope it's worth looking at.
