Hi,

I'm currently developing a web application in DNN 5.x that consists of 10-15 (sub)modules. These (sub)modules are strongly related to each other and form together the application.

At this moment I’ve created one module (extension) that consist of multi module definitions (one definition for each sub module). Another possible approach could be to create separate modules (extensions). At this moment I'm not sure what is the best approach.

Could anyone give me advise what is the best approach or practice to build a web application that consist of several modules that should work together. Please outline also the pros and cons of an approach.

Points to consider

  • Some modules use information that is maintained by other modules
  • The modules are placed on several pages. It would be nice if the (sub)modules could be selected and added separately (e.g. when a new sub module is added)
  • Maintainability
  • Extensibility, with new sub modules.

Thanks for your help,
Arie
