Hi,

i am quite new to developping asp.net , could you please advise me?

How do i pass the sitesqlserver that is used by dotnetnuke itself onto the linqsource?
below is an example of what i tried, but the connection string remains empty

Code:

Dim constring = SqlDataProvider.Instance.GetConnectionStringBuilder()

            For i = 0 To amount - 1
                Skinlistquery(i) = New SqlDataSource()
                Skinlistquery(i).ID = "Skinlistquery" + i.ToString()
                Skinlistquery(i).SelectCommand = "Select * from Tabs where SkinSrc=""" + skinlist(i) + """"
                Skinlistquery(i).ConnectionString = constring.ConnectionString
                SkinoverviewPlaceholder.Controls.Add(Skinlistquery(i))
            Next

If I got it correctly, you can use DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.Config.GetConnectionString().

Check our dnn modules and dotnetnuke skins to see where you can start.

Thank you very much, i worked away a couple of errors, until i got to this nontrivial error:

Code:

A critical error has occurred.
An item placeholder must be specified on ListView 'SkinListView0'. Specify an item placeholder by setting a control's ID property to "itemPlaceholder". The item placeholder control must also specify runat="server".

I have looked into how a normal placeholder works, but how to add those dynamicly? could i possibly copy an existing layouttemplate
