I am trying to create a module that can display data in a gridview and filter the data based on the user that is logged in. When I add the grid view to the View.asxc it doesn't show up when I compile and run the pag with the module. I am using the modlue template from Chris Hammond. Does anyone know what I need to do to display data in a grid view in a module.

Thank you

Once you add the grid view to the page you need to bind data to the grid in the code behind.

You should take a look at the DNNSimpleArticle module I have on codeplex for examples of functional code, the templates as they are right now are great for starting an empty project, but not good resources for actually doing anything.

Thank you very much. That code helped a lot. I watched the webinar video you made about module development and it was a good start. I currenlty don't live in the U.S., I am originally from the Bay Area, but now I live and work in Helsinki, Finland, I would like to get some more training in DNN, how comprehensive is the Module training that DNN offers? It it just basic stuff or does it really prepare you to create unique solutions?

And congrats on the baby, my second child was born in Oct.(I've been reading your blog)
Thanks
Paul

Paul,   (nice name by the way :)

While a understand you want to learn module development, you may also want to look at the various free and/or low-cost modules that provide the functionality you are attempting to develop.   Check out SQLView and SQLViewProd from www.DNNStuff.com  or take a look a my SQLGridSelectedVIew module - an older version is available free. (see here)

Hope this helps.
Paul.
