Hi

I have a very basic module, testing & debugging locally (localhost) it works fine, but in my development server the page that holds it gives me timeout all the time, and the event viewer lists endless APPLICATION RESTART entries.

Any idea what could be happening?

Right now, I'm going to try by deleting the module from the "modules definition" because I can't even go to the holding page to delete it from there.

Rather than deleting the module installation from the Module Definitions/Extensions screen, you might try changing to Layout mode in the control panel then deleting the module from the particular page. Layout mode suppresses rendering of module code and can (sometimes) be the best way to delete a "rogue" module that is mis-behaving.

As far as the reason that the module is forcing an application restart - it's hard to say as their could be many reasons. Are their any errors being logged to the Event Viewer just before the restart? Do you have access to or can your host provider check the server logs to determine the reason for the restart - out of memory, too high CPU usage, making a change to web.config or files in the \bin folder, etc.?

@William. Thanks for the tip on how to delete the module, it worked that way.

Regarding the error I was getting, it was related to the server as it was unresponsive for a while (GoDaddy sometimes is not 99.99% reliable), they checked something, restarted services and the .Net framework is working fine now, so, it was not my module, it was something with IIS that was restarting all applications.

Anyway, thanks for the tip!
