Dear Colleagues!

We have made custom module for one of our customers. This module collects some information about visitors. Once we tested it locally it was fine and fast. But after installation to the live server we found INSERT data into database makes site 10% slowly (a lot of visitors and a lot of pages to view).

After small optimization we have made module collecting data in the Cache and after each 1000 records puts data into DB. It fixed problem with performance. Site is the same 100% fast again.

But one new issue has been found. Once Application Poll goes down (because of new module installation or other reason) we lose data from the Cache  This makes client unhappy.

Question: Is there any way for DotNetNuke to put handler for Application Pool Shutdown and save data from Cache? In the simple .NET site we can put handler in the Global.asax for Application_End. But how to do this in the DotNetNuke Module? Really do not like idea to change Global.asax for DotNetNuke.

Thanks in advance!

Sergey

The only way I am aware of doing this sort of thing would be in global - I dont think dnn surfaces any events elsewhere that would handle this.

Thank you for your comment. In this way we will need to modify Global.asax after each DNN upgrade. Hope we can find better solution.

Ultimately all you would need to do, is add 1 line of code to call your own external class.
