I have created a module. I have created an install package for the module. I am trying to debug the module by running the website on my local machine then opening my module source and using the attatch to process. When I do that and go to my breakpoint I get the error message: "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document."

The solution builds without errors

The module works as designed I just can't debug it.

I am using Windows 7, MS SQL Server 2008 R2, IIS 7, DNN 5.4 and VS 2008

My build is set to debug.

Please help. I've search many forums and blogs but can't for the life of me figure this out

Have you visited the site page that has the module on it?

I don't think the DLL gets loaded until you do that.  Standard caveats apply - when you created the install you did package the debug build version AND the pdb files - yes?

I am trying to debug a custom user login. So I got to the login page. Also when I build the project the module dlls are output to the bin folder in the website

Which process are you attaching to?

Apart from it not being a custom login - your setup sounds virtually identical to what I am running here.

Are you setting a break point directly in a control event procedure (like Button_Click)?  Are you deeper in setting breakpoints in libraries that are loaded from such code.  I'd start of by trying to set the simplest (event proc or form load) breakpoint and see if you can get that to work.

Best wishes,
