Hi all!

I didn't know where to put this question, because I saw no topic that it fits in, so I put it here. I have the following problem:

I've written a small web service that contains one function which returns data from a database in an HTML code. It's an asmx file, and I put it in the root of my site. When I try to call the function with ajax post (url: webservice.asmx/Function) it returns 404 error. The web service works fine locally, with the same sql server address and credentials, but once I put it live on the site, it always comes back with this error. I'm using DNN 5.6.3 that's why I put this question here too, but I think that it is not DNN what's causing the trouble. Could anyone help me?

Hi: Could you try moving the service to within a folder under DesktopModules or just at the root of the Desktop module.

Also - since you're getting a 404 - be sure to check the actual URL you're calling from the live site since when testing locally you're likely using
http://localhost:12345/yourlocaldomain/yourwebservice.asm/function

Hi!

Thanks for the replies. The problem was the url rewriter iFinity. The solution was to move the script in a folder, and exclude that folder from the rewriting rule (that is, include the folder in the exceptions regex).
