I have a gridview whose rows the user can select. After a user selects a row, a thumbnail of an image is shown in an ImageButton outside of the gridview. I'd like to show the full-sized image in a modal popup, but it almost seems impossible!

 I know that in order to reuse a jquery popup, I have to set its autoOpen option to false and call dialog('open') in the button's event handler. However, this does not work (nothing happens when I click the button); apparently, you cannot change the autoOpen option of the dnnAlert even though according to the DotNetNuke wiki, "the plugin can accept any of the "core" jQuery UI modal options".

I tried using the jQuery popup plugin directly, which didn't work. This is the code:

$(document).ready(function() { var $dialog = $('<div></div>')
.html('some text')
.dialog({
autoOpen: false,
title: 'Dialog Box'
});
$('#<%=Button1.ClientID %>').click(function() {
$dialog.dialog('open');
return false;
                                                                                                                      });
});
Again nothing happens when I click the button. I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions; this problem has been bugging me for a while now.

I am working on a detailed blog post about calling modals in DNN, hope to have it up next week.
