Hi Everyone,

Our team is in the process of possibly utilizing DNN7 for a new Enterprise application. Out of the box there's a lot of functionality that we would use, particular the social networking aspects of the site. Some of the view member details and member directory need to be modified to suit our requirements as well as some other modules.

The question is can these modules be extended and updated? Are there any tutorials or recommendations how a developer should go about this? Can the same recommendations be used for DNN7?

Any help or direction would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Joe

Bump.

Anyone with experience in this area?

Still trying to find out the best way to go about this. Specifically when you edit a profile you go to the "Manage Account" and "Manage Profile" tabs I need to update the tabs to possibly have information comming from a db outside of dnn.

DNN Platform is an Framework, that can extensivently extent.  Basicly the most social modules are integrated in the DNN Platform.  DNN Can be extent with Modules,  Providers and Skins and Containers.  Chaning the Core Source will break for future Upgrades, even you first remodifying the code bevor you upgrade your instance.

You should check Community/Learn for getting knowledge on developing and Administration of the DNN Platform.

For Enterprise Environments DNN have also Evoq Content and Evoq Social in it business solution Portfolio, it Comes with more Features and have a Support from the corperation.

Thanks Matthias.

Would be  nice if some of the admin functionality was more customisable or extendable. Looking at the source code it would require a significant amount of changes. Best option will have to rewrite a lot of existing profile management functionality so that the core is not affected.

What are the prices for the professional and Evoq packages, I noticed the prices  have been removed?

AFAIK, the Professional Edition starts around 3498,00 $ but this is not an official price Submission.  I got them from the DNN Store http://store.dnnsoftware.com/home/pro...

The Profile can be modified with own properties over DNN if self, so I am not sure if you need a code enhancement.  Basicly I would prefer on module modifications to do this on own modules or Providers with own names, so it would not be overridden on future Upgrades.  All extensions should be created as an zip install package, that included a manifest file for new installs and Upgrades.  So Upgrades of the DNN Platform and of extensions are possible as long you don't touch the Code you have in the DNN Platform packages.
