Hi,

We would like to develop some extensions to our LMS that utilize the DNN Social API.  However, most of our clients will NOT have DNN Social installed, so the DNN Social interaction will have to be optional.

Here is my question.  How can we structure our software so that it can run with or without DNN Social DLLs being present?  If we make references to the DNN Social DLLs, then I think we will have run time errors if DNN Social is not installed even if we disable those features.

How can we avoid run time errors for clients who do not have DNN Social installed?

Thanks,
Chris

personally I would structure it so all the dnn social capabilities are in a separate assembly -that way you can reference DNN social in your code - to ensure that this can't be installed for users that don't have dnn social, just set up a dependency check in your manifest (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...) . Alternatively if you have to integrate the enhancements within modules used by all types of clients, you can use reflection to late bind to the relevant assemblies.
