Hi,

I have implemented a simple sample DNN webservice with DAL2 data access methods. It returns data in XML format right now.

Does anyone have a recent example of similar, returning data in json format?

Sample?

Something simple allowing this to return json:

DesktopModulesController dmc = new DesktopModulesController();
            IEnumerable<DesktopModule> dtms = dmc.GetDesktopModules();
            return Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.OK, dtms);

A json serialiser plugin / library? json.Net or DataContractJsonSerializer? anything else?

thanks

Hi
Try converting "dtms" to json before sending the response.
Check below samples.

Define this.

///
/// User information in json
///

public class User
{
public int id { get; set; }
public string name{ get; set; }
public int age { get; set; }
}

///
/// RootObject class having User class as member
/// To obtain final Json fomat required to display User data
///

public class RootObject
{
public List users{ get; set; }

public RootObject()
{
users = new List();
}
}

Inside HttpResponseMessage method try like this.

RootObject objRootObject = new RootObject();
objRootObject.users= obRoot.ToList();

//Return the user info in json string format
return Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.OK, objRootObject.ToJson());

Good idea Sunil, I'll give it a try later.

Thanks
