I'm building out some new modules in DNN 9. Using the same code I did for DNN 7 to create WebAPI services, nothing seems to work and I'm sure the API is updated and I'm likely missing something simple. I could reference old dlls, but I'd of course prefer to use the DNN9 API. Can anyone point me to some examples/documentation of building WebAPI services and RouteHandler in DNN 9 to be accessed by a custom DNN module? I've been searching, but so far all dead ends.

Update:  After a couple of initial experiments, think I'll start down the MVC path for building modules in 9.  Seems to be more of the trend.  Found some documentation and sample modules (mostly from the DNN8 module contest) to help me get started.  A constructive suggestion for DNN Corp, it would be really nice to see better documentation, organized and professional training with complete end-to-end (non-trivial) examples from DNN corporation.  I know things change quickly and that is a challenge.  The biggest problem I have developing in DNN is getting up-to-date info with solid examples.  If anyone has a 'definitive' example of best practice for MVC module development, let me know.  Many of the examples I see are a bit all over the place in terms of implementation, and I'm always wondering if there's a better way.  I of course understand implementation is dependent on project requirements and personal choice, particularly now with all the options available for front-end.

I feel you, was kind of a nightmare to get the WebAPI of DNN to work since documentation and samples where almost non existing. Add to this that you had to make manual changes in web.config to make it work at all which we found out after much trial and error. Here is some more info on how to get it running.

BTW, are there any significant changes regarding WebAPI/Service Framework between DNN8 and DNN9?
