I'm trying to install some alternative HTML editors. I installed both CKEditor as well as TinyMCE from Ventrian. In addition to the default editor (which, for your information, is completely inaccessible to users with screen readers for anything beyond basic editing, no formatting). No matter which editor is selected in the combobox showing all of the possible providers I get: "The current HTML Editor Provider is not supported by this version of the HTML Editor Manager". Scott for his part thought it might have been a needed update of the TinyMCE editor files, which I in turn updated. Also ... because TinyMCE was installed Manually, it doesn't show up in the list of providers. What would you suggest I check? If I can change to any one of these providers as the default through host>HTML editor Manager, then I ought to be able to see and manipulate them, right? it's got to be some setting I'm missing.

If it helps, my environment is Windows Server 2012 R2,.NET 4.5, DNN 8.0.0.3 or whatever the latest is.

which CKEditor provider are you using - the one that ships with DNN 8 or the one from dnnckeditor.codeplex.com? AFAIK only the first one is supported by the editor configuration module, while the other one comes with its own configuration module.

I'm using the alternative one from the default (the default pulls seemingly all keyboard-driven access right out from under me). So, then, the question becomes, if all providers have their own modules for configuration, then do I look for the name of such a module added underneath the host settings menu? (one of the providers I've got in there, the tinyMCE provider for instance, has no corresponding entry within the extensions list, assumedly due to it not having a manifest) do I tell the site that I want to use one of the alternative providers throughout the entire site ... If the provider is switched to one of the alternatives, then, shouldn't all pages have that setting filtered down to them? That's          the way I believed for it to work, but evidently I was mistaken.

I am not using tinyMCE, sorry.
CKEditor provider from Watchers.Net cones with its own config module.

Which provider should be used is always configured for the whole DNN installation.
