In the past the DNN forge was a list of 3rd Party open source modules, created by the community and not linked to DNN corps.   If people wanted the high profiled DNN modules, these had their own area, as well as being distributed with the DNN core.

Now suddenly with the new changes to the forge we find the DNN projects part of the selection.  This is just basically unhelpful and reduces any benefit 3rd party open source projects gain from being in the DNN forge.  Most people know the DNN modules and goto the forge looking for something else, If new people want to get to know the DNN modules then these people can find them  in the DNN module area.  Trying to search the DNN forge now just gives a nice list of DNN modules with some 3rd party ones thrown in.

If DNN corps are trying to help the community based projects, please understand that the download and review rates of all 3rd Party modules is far lower than the high profile DNN ones, so listing the DNN modules in the forge is simply killing it off.  Even the most popular 3rd party module NB_Store is now reduced to the 5th page when seaching by popularity.

While I welcome the concept of latest released list, which seems to at least highlight different projects in turn.  The fact the DNN modules are listed is crazy.....you might as well just remove the DNN forge and say "go and find what you can on codeplex, because we're not helping!".

I don't suppose my comments will cause much to change, but I think it should be pointed out.

@Chris, OK...I didn't realize that...maybe because the old forge was to static and in need of change. And the search by popualrity didn't show any DNN modules??

@Cuong Dang, Ok, I'm not trying to convert anyone :-), But I still think I'm right and the DNN modules should have their own exclusive area and not be mixed with the DNN forge ones.

@Jan, Good point!...Maybe a better search/sort criterias would be the codeplex review scores. But I suppose it's difficult to judge a modules standard unless you try it yourself!
