I'm in the process of writing a custom login module and would like to show a reCaptcha to the user after n failed login attempts. (the benefits of anti-automation without getting in the way of 90% of users logging in)

I know DNN stores this somewhere to manage lockouts but I can't seem to find it.  Wondering is this is something I can get to form my module?

Ah, found it: aspnet_Membership table.

Sorry for the post. I just could not figure out where this was stored.

actually the best way is to change it in web.config by adding maxInvalidPasswordAttempts to the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider node.

Thanks Cathal, and yes indeed. In this case however I want to access the current number of fails during each login attempt. After 2 failed logins I'd like to show the reCaptcha on the login module. Then if maxInvalidPasswordAttempts is set to say 5 they get a few more chances before DNN locks the account.

In this way most users don't need to ever deal with or see the reCaptcha. People who flub it 3 times see it on the third attempt and solves an anti-automation vuln at the same time.

BTW - Got the idea from the Google Analytics login

np - you can see the code where we surface the value (as a non-editable label) under admin->user accounts, user settings.
