Hi all,
I need to create a file document tracker....ie: a front end web report that is fed from another DB..This front end can then be used to edit 2 columns.
1 File upload 2 Description...
What I currently have is a DB in SQL that gets appended to evrey few minutes from another DB.(DB2)..DB2 is read only..
I'm Looking for something in DNN that can point to this SQL DB and allow file upload and description to be added..

I think have 2 options ...
1 Point something in DNN to SQL DB to edit....or 2 Update DNN Table directly from SQL
I've looked at Forms and List module but can't see how this can be pointed at an SQL DB instead of DNN .
Maybe somehow try and Update Forms and List DNN Table Directly from SQL..?

Can someone Point me in the right direction

Ray..

Form and list is designed to handle its own items only. There are other modules like SQLGridSelectedView or CFL, which may access other data on MS SQL server or other OLEDB data sources as well. Are you trying to upgrade a table in your DB2 database or just link to it? What files do you try uploading?

Hi again Seb...Toldya youd be hearing from me !!

DB2 table is read only.

I have a table in SQL that is updated from DB2.

I'm looking for something in DNN that can also connect to the SQL table and update certain columns.

One update column needs to be able to upload a document for each record.

This is why I was initially looking at Forms and Lists as it has an Upload file column.

It's a pity forms and list can't access external data sources..It's so close to what I need..

There is a Module on snow covered called Dynamic Forms that might do the trick ?

Sorry, I am not sure, whether dynamic form is able to access other tables, I always use our own module for this purpose (http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/Offers/ModuleProgramming/V3V4CustomFormsLists.aspx)

So you would recommend CFL Module :) ?

Can it point to SQL DB  , allow editing of certain columns , and has attach document capabilities for each record in the DB ?
