Hello,
currently I have a dnn 5 installation in a sql 2000 db. I plan to move to dnn pro ediction and buy a new server. I would like a suggestion on wich version to install: it's better sql 2008 32bit or 64bit?

Windows Server 64 and SQL Server 64 bit support using more than 3 GB of RAM, I'd go for it, iof possible.

Thank you Sebastian,
my hardware should be 16gb ram with Xeon 4C E5620 80w 2.4GHz/1066MHZ/12MB. I have read that sqlserver 64bit has no DTS function... :(

If you are going to have that kind of RAM then you definitely want 64-bit and your SQL Server can use lots of RAM and keep databases very fast in that way.

The DTS of Server 2000 has been replaced with a Business Intelligence tool called SQL Server Integration Services. I'm more familiar with the 2005 version. There it has a few rough edges but is still quite capable and promising. This is where also you will create your maintenance plans if on a SQL Version that supports it.

There are some versions of SQL 2008 which indeed do not support SSIS. For example, SQL Server 2008 Express does not. So you can't use SQL Agent and SSIS and maintenance plans with Express. But if you are using Enterprise or Standard you are in good shape. Workgroup, Web and Express, not so much. You can compare versions/features here: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/20...
