We are going to upgrade a site from version 5.02.03 to 7.04.02

We are going to do this by taking a copy of the site (and database) and installing it on to a test server.

We will then upgrade the site on the test server up to version 7.04.02. Once this is successful we will install the upgraded site back on to the live server.

Is it possible to then port any changes that have subsequently been made on the live site back into the upgraded database.

The site includes a forum and there are likely to have been quite a few changes in the time it takes to do the upgrade.

The databases will be different versions (dnn 5.02.03 and dnn 7.04.02). Is it going to be possible to update the upgraded database with any subsequent live changes?

integrating changes from forums and other tables is usually a challenge.
I suggest using the copy as a tool to identify all the steps, which need to be taken to upgrade the site, script it, where possible and note it to apply it to the live site during a short maintenance takedown.

Cheers from Germany,
