I'm having a terrible time getting the feedback module to work.  The root cause is that my SMTP service (actually, I've tried three with no luck) will not allow any email address in the FROM field except mine (the one I use to authenticate to the service).  The email is bounced back to my local BadMail folder with a message like "<somebody@domain.com> is not allowed to use this service".  It works fine if I put my own email address in the form and submit, unfortunately my own feedback is of little use to me.

Is there something I'm misunderstanding.  If not, is there a workaround or fix for this behavior?

I'm at a complete loss.

Sounds like this is an issue with the SMTP provider / web hoster and not the feedback module.  As far as I know there is no code in the feedback module that would deny the email from being sent and the redirecting to you BadMail folder.  Who is the web hoster for the site?  What SMTP services have you tried to use?

You are absolutely right, the root cause is that my SMTP service will not allow any email address in the FROM field except mine.  I host the site.  For mail service I've tried RoadRunner business class (primary), Google, and some free mail place called HotPop.  The module sends mail to my local SMTP server which then forwards the mail to my ISP's SMTP server.  It is at this point that the email is returned to my local SMTP server's BadMail folder with the message "<somebody@domain.com> is not allowed to use this service".  I am certain that the module is performing as designed.

Please, my question is not "What's wrong with the module?"  My question is "What can I do to make it work for me?"
