I have a application in the iFrame module.  I need to pass it a variable (user identifier).

How do I do that?  Also, anyway session variables can be shared with the the app(asp.net) running in the iFrame?

Thank you

The next version of the IFrame Module will support dynamic querystring parameters, to include the user ID. Stay tuned... I will post a link to the beta release soon (today or tomorrow).

Based on how .NET works, it can't share session vars with another app. I can, however, look at using the dynamic parameters to manage this. If that would be sufficient, let me know. That would be a fairly easy addition. If you could give me specific examples of what you're wanting to pass, that would help. Also, if you can think of any other types of data that should be passed, I can get those added, as well.

Thank you for your reply.  Looking forward to the new version.
I am trying to pass user identification iformation so the app in the iFrame can show personalized content from the user.  I may pass a text uid or thinking about a GUID. The GUID to resolve via a shared db the ID resolution.  I a thinking the GUID approach for security reasons.
Thank you

Hmm... The current alpha release of the IFrame doesn't support the GUID, only the user ID. How critical is this? I can add it, but my personal thinking is that the user ID is more important because the user ID is what will be cross-referenced within the DNN database, not the GUID. I understand your point about security, but honestly, they're both just as secure - it's just easier to write down a 5 digit number than it is a GUID. Beyond that, there really is no difference, unless I'm missing something.

The only reason I hesitate to add the GUID is because I'd prefer to not overcomplicate the view. Granted, one option won't complicate it, but one-by-one, the list of options will grow and become pretty hard to pick what you want.

For now, I want to leave the user ID and hold off on the GUID. If a few others want it as well, I will go ahead and add it in. Does that sound ok?
