Have you checked the file type is listed in your available file extensions? Its within 'Host > Host Settings' if not.

Running DNN 6 and media 4

There is a set-up guide... It's included in the DotNetNuke User Guide.

It is not a simple config error

If you try to upload a movie file you get this error - in this case it was a *.wmv file

File type wmv is not valid in this context. Valid File Types Include: jpg, jpeg, jpe, gif, bmp, png, swf

However if you expand the list of allowable file types just below the file upload section

you can see that they are enabled in the host settings

I would expect, first row is for viewing and second for editing/uploading, i.e. make sure to enable both for your use case.

Hello Sebastian

Thanks for your reply

However if you re-read my post you will see that the type of media file was *.wmv
I have allowed this type of file in my host conifg file and you can see that wmv files have a tick in both columns in the table I cut and pasted from the media module config section

yet the media module does not appear to be taking any notice and says Valid File Types Include: jpg, jpeg, jpe, gif, bmp, png, swf

I think it was working as far as I recall before I upgraded to version 6.01.01

Regards

Lewis Irving
