How about supporting Flash Video (FLV)?  This is a pretty amazing way to do video, Google Video/YouTube usees it.  We are employing it for virtually everything we do now.  For an excellent CC licensed player check out http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Flash_Video_Player.  I think that this is the player YouTube uses.

I second that request!  It seems the .flv format is pretty important.  Also, thanks for the link to that script!

Me too - flv is really the only way to go now given the problems with all the other formats since grrFox.

Thank you for the link - looks very interesting - are you saying that the player and scripts from your link will work inside DNN ?

Thanks

Ian

I certainly agree.  FLV is the defacto standard for video now.  The script I posted could be made to work in DNN, but it is not a DNN module at this point.

Thanks for that info.
I have a DNN site thats set up to show a commercial filmakers video edits to various customers across the world.

What I would REALLY like to know is why Mozilla are blocking or making difficult to use one of the most common activeX controls on the planet. All that actually happens is that many users cannot see some content. Adding "Media Player" abilty to Grrfox is not easy.

What would be nice would be a FLV module for DNN that can read and optionaly display the metadata such as descriptions and also allow access to some of the FlashVARS possiblities.

I notice there is a module on Snowcovered that plays flv's. its a bit pricey at $70 but thats probably less than the cost in time of me trying to get scripts to run inside DNN. (My lack of abilty not DNN).

I have not looked yet but I assume that there are free FLV client players. This may impact bandwidth costs as users may simply return to the site to view rather than watch (the progressivley downloaded file) offilne.

What fun!

Thanks

Ian
