I recently downloaded and set up a fresh DNN v4.3.4.  Looking at the Modules Definition page, it shows the Media Module as 3.2.2.  However, when I add this module to a page, and then try to add a media item, the only things I am able to point it to are graphic files.  I may be brand new to DNN, but everything I am reading about this module says it should allow me to play media clips (a .wmv file is what I was trying to test out), yet I am not getting this.  What's the deal?  Do I need to get a different module?  If so, can someone please give me the instructions on how to upgrade?  Thanks

Andrew,

check your allowed file extensions in the host settings.  If your media extension does not exist then add it here and update.

I will take what Leigh said one step further, while in you host settings add ALL the MEDIA TYPES you want to use or might use, because out of the box DNN doesnt allow that many media types to be uploaded, and certainly not all the file types the media module can play, otherwise you'll be back in there the next time you want to play a .mov file.

here's a list of file types you might want to add..I might have missed a few

mpg,mov,avi,mpeg,mp3,wmv,m3u,asx,flv

Add them here:Host>host settings>advanced settings>other settings>File Upload Extensions...
