I attempted to install the newest Links module (04.00.00) and saw this message:

Install aborted - The module being installed is not compatible with your host application version (an upgrade is required).

According to the New Releases page, the minimum DNN version to install this module is 4.06.02, and my site uses DNN 04.07.00.  Is the New Releases page information incorrect, or is there an error elsewhere?

I just got the same error message while installing the source version, and I'm currently running 04.08.00.

I was able to get it to install by editing the .dnn file.  In the compatibleversions node, I changed

04.[0-9]{1}[6-9]{1}).[0-9]{1}[2-9]{1}

to

04.[0-9]{1}[6-9]{1}).[0-9]{1}[0-9]{1}

so that it'll allow versions like 04.XX.00 instead of requiring 04.XX.02 and up.  Everything seems to be working fine, so give that a try.

I used Dave's instructions above and edited the dnn_Links.dnn file in the Links_04.00.00_Install (unzipped) folder. Rezipped the contents of the folder, with the edited dnn_Links.dnn file. This workaround allowed the install package to install sucessfully.

I wonder if the Install package will be fixed properly?

I made the fix as indicated and it installed properly but now all my links are giving the error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: F:\Copy of DotNetNuke_04.07.00_Install\DesktopModules\Links\Links.ascx(12): error BC30455: Argument not specified for parameter 'strDescription' of 'Public Function DisplayInfo(strDescription As String) As String'. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: F:\Copy of DotNetNuke_04.07.00_Install\DesktopModules\Links\Links.ascx(12): error BC30455: Argument not specified for parameter 'strDescription' of 'Public Function DisplayInfo(strDescription As String) As String'. at System.Web.Compilation.AssemblyBuilder.Compile() at System.Web.Compilation.BuildProvidersCompiler.PerformBuild() at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any ideas?  I am using version 4.07.  Thanks.
