I have a map network drive for a file I want to have a link to.
Ex: \\server1\file.doc

Can the Link module create a link to it?

Thanks
Brew

Brew,
In Web World, it doesn't matter where the physical file is stored; whether on local computer or network. What matters is which files are shared through the web server (IIS assuming you're running DNN)

So to answer the question, link will always point to your server.

Of course, you can link directly using \\Server1 but don't expect that to work for anyone but users within the local network and that also if they have access to the server.

Sorry I forgot to tell that this is for Intranet site. What Link Type should I select? (URL, Page, File, or User)   I did URL and entered \\Server1\. It appears that when a link is clicked, \\Server1 will be added to the domain name like this:
http://intranet/Server1

Please advise

Thanks,
Brew
