I am currently specifying links to internal documents on an intranet fileshare.  The links are of the format file://\\fileserver\share\filename.  The links are all set to open in a new window.  Everything works fine with the regular links list.  However, if the links module is configured to display the links in the drop-down list format, the links no longer work.  A new browser window opens, but the link is transformed from the above format.  The link that appears in the new window is file:///fileserversharefilename with all backslashes separating the parts of the path removed.  Looking into the links code, it appears that all that happens on the link click is that a simple javascript "window.open to a _blank browser" script is returned in the response.  This makes me think that something internal to Internet Explorer javascript processing is re-formatting the URL.  The only way I can think to get around this problem is instead of sending the link "as is" to the javascript window.open, you need to first replace all backslashes with double backslashes, which will then be re-formatted as single forward slashes by IE javascript processing.

Has anyone else run into this problem?  Can anyone confirm that it is IE, not DNN that is responsible for this particular "bug"?  Is it possible to get the suggested fix (or a better one) implemented in the next release of the Links module?
