When I try to add an external news feed to my site I get this error. I already set Medium to Full trust.

News Feed Is Not Available At This Time. Error message:The operation has timed out

 

When I put this text into google I get about 40000 hits to sites which seem to be DotNetNuke sites which all have the same problem. We have an older version of DNN running and it shows the news feed without any problems. So what is causing this error which many, many other people have also. Judging by the huge amount of hits.

I've been trying to experiment with news feeds on a DNN site installed locally. When not logged in, I was getting the same error message. When logged in as host, I was getting the error message about proxy settings. My proxy setting were (and are) blank.

I have a software firewall installed locally. I changed the program setttings to allow aspnet_wp access and now the feeds seem to work.

It seems to be the issue with the Feed not loading, not DNN module problem. Did you try going to that feed outside DNN?

I also have timeouts on several feeds.  I can view the feed when I put the url in my browser. But the module does not show it.

I have no proxy defined and the only feeds that work are from other sites.  I changed nothing to my server settings, so I do not understand why they are not working any longer.

Does anyone has an idea?
