Hello --

I've installed the News Module on my website to bring in news items from a News area on my internal site.  The problem is that the RSS News module can only access the RSS feed using the internal ip address of the server, which results in links that don't work when visitors view the site.

I have set up the internal and external ip addresses in the Portals area, but still the RSS News module can only pull the feed using the internal ip address.

Anyone have a suggestion as to how to get the RSS News module to pull using the public ip address?

Can you be a bit more specific about the internal module you are using to create the 'news'.  Also, give some details about how your internal site is hosted.  I use a workstation at work on our network to test.  With so much being done with security, our network folks disallow my test site to be accessed by other users on the network.  Not a very helpful scenario, but I understand.  So, what you are experiencing may be due to some network security.  If the issue is not being able to pull in news from outside ips, then it's a probably a firewall issue.  However, we would need to understand your setup, including which version of DNN you are using to help.

Could be a simple solution, or more complex.  At this point that's the best I could offer. Generally, I'll take a newsfeed URL, and try to pull it in using IE7, if that works I know it could be related to IIS, DNN, or CAS configuration issues.  From there, I'd have to inspect all of those areas to nail it down further.

I'm using the Blog module to publish a news feed.  The problem is that the server can't resolve its external ip address.  (I can use a browser to point to the news feed URL on the external ip address from a client computer, so I'm sure the news feed is working.)

I would think others would have had this problem too.

Anyway, I need to figure out how to get my server to be able to reach itself using its external ip address. Any suggestions?  Many thanks!
