Tried the new news module with one feed (forum aggrigated).

 I GOT THIS ERROR?

could not be loaded. Error: The 'pubDate' element is invalid - The value '2008-07-10T17:41:42Z' is invalid according to its datatype 'tRfc822formatDate' - The Pattern constraint failed.

Ideas? (please)

Hi Mike,

It appears the source does not transmit a valid feed. The pubDate should be in a valid format which is specified by international standards. The reason that this is important is that the module must be able to uniformly get the dates so it can properly aggregate. The standard for RSS2 is an Rfc 822 date. Granted, it is much better to have the universal date, but the people that made the standard at the time were not very 'international'.

For an upcoming release we'll see what we can do to make this more flexible.

Peter

Thanks for the reply Peter!

First i want to say that i like the the new news module (when there is a feed that is OK). It is a very powerful module.

I think I will wait for the new release, that is more flexible (forgiving). Because it's loads of feeds out there that is NOT working right now (dnn forum for example).

Regards

Mike

Is there any kind of ETA on when the next version will be available that addresses this inflexibility with formatting?  Every single feed we had set up on every one of our DNN sites fails either due to the pubDate format mentioned above or the author format.  The new features look great, but it's worthless if it can't read any of the feeds that our clients want.  Even the feeds generated by the DNN forums fail.  I'm sure a lot of work was put into it so I don't mean to sound too ungrateful, but I really do have to question how well this was tested if it can't even read the feeds generated by other core DNN modules.  We would love to upgrade for the new features, but until this problem is resolved we're going to have to stick with the old version.
