The pubDate and the author elements in the feed do not conform to RSS v2.0 specs and the feed fails to convert due to not passing validation checks. Both issues are resolved in the Beta version due out shortly.

Hi Peter,

I just setup DNN 4.9 as an Intranet 2 days ago and am trying to get Health and Fitness Feeds in.  Here are the feeds that are throwing the error:

Feed 'http://health.yahoo.com/news/rss/fitness/;_ylt=AlULGBfBgV7M9b4cJi4P252EZ4t4' could not be loaded. Error: Download error

Feed 'http://www.topix.com/rss/business/recreation.xml#' could not be loaded. Error: Download error

Hi Mark

I have tried your two feeds using version 4.00.01 Beta of the NewsFeeds module and I am getting the expected results (working with these links)

If you have upgraded a site using DNN 4.09.00 then it is likely that your issues are as a result of the upgraded NewsFeeds module version 4.00.00, the project lead Peter has since provided a beta version of the NewsFeeds module that addresses several issues as reported in this forum, check out my post addressed to Kia in this tread for download link for the beta version.

The beta version 4.00.01 is not an official release however we have experienced good results from this version.

So if you are using 4.00.00 and get errors I suggest that you test version 4.00.01, if the problem still exists then perhaps update this thread as an outstanding issue with these feeds.

Cheers

Craig

Okay, I am puzzled by this one. I have three seperate installs of DNN, each running News Feed 4.0.0. and DNN Core 4.9.0. Using http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_world_edition/front_page/rss.xml as my test rss feed; for two of them it works just fine but for the third one I get the error of "Feed http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_world_edition/front_page/rss.xml could not be loaded. Error: Download Error". Since two of them are working fine I assume it is not a broken feed.

So I read through some of the posts here and decided to try and update the one that is getting the error to the beta version of News Feed 4.0.1, but still get the same error.

The only difference that I know between the three different installs is that the two that are working were fresh installs of DNN starting with 4.9.0, but the one that is always getting the error was just updated from DNN Core 4.8.4 last week.

Any ideas? Thanks!
