We have encountered the same issue when adding the RSS Feed to a page.  Here is the Error message:

"News Feed Is Not Available At This Time. Error message:Request for the permission of type System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 failed."

It does not make a difference which rss feed we are trying to attach to.  For instance:
http://www.renewableenergyaccess.com/rss/renews.rss

Any ideas?

it's a code access security (CAS) issue. By default RSS requests to remote content will not work in medium trust CAS. Please read the code access security document in the documentation download for further detail, and for suggestions on how to work around the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply.

We went through the document, and tried to apply the correct settings in the machine.config file, applying High or Full trust.  This did not accomplish the task.  We then went into the DNN's web.config and changed the trust level from Medium to High.  However, this caused the following error when trying to load the site:

An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Line 258: <add assembly="System.EnterpriseServices, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"/>
Line 259: <add assembly="System.Web.Mobile, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"/>
Line 260: <add assembly="*"/>
Line 261: </assemblies>
This looks like a pretty cryptic error message, as we did nothing to the machine.config file to which this error is referring.

Any further ideas>

Thanks

When you change the trust configuration of a website, you need to force a complete reload, so that it can rebuild the effective security policy. Depending on the version of the OS, you'll either need to unload the application, unload the application pool or restart the web services e.g. do an IISRESET.
