trying to put the news module on the home page  - the default home page of the DNN 5.0 template.

it throws the below error when logged in as admin/host. also, in the settings page there is no fields for source feed and news feed style sheet (the other fields seem to be there).

I saw a similar problem with the Ultra Video Gallery 3.0.3 module on a clean DNN 5 install. I worked with the developer to solve the problem. The solution ended up having the developer update the reference to "System.Web.Extension" changing "Specific Version" to "False" in the reference and then recompiling the module.

I'm guessing that the difference is that DNN 5 is aware of .NET 3.5 and removes the System.Web.Extensions.dll file from the /bin folder of the site if it detects this file in the GAC (global assembly cache). On a machine with only .NET 2.0, it leaves this file in the /bin folder. I'm also guessing that DNN 4 does not have this installation logic. (Maybe a DNN team member can confirm this.)

I run into the same error as above. how exactly do we ensure that AJAX is installed correctly? I'm running ASP.NET 3.5 so it should be included. How can I check?

I've just spent a few hours debugging this problem.

After lots of swearing.... It seems it's to do with a hard coded out of date system.web.extensions reference in one of the ASCX files.
