Hi all,

we have made a lot of changed in our machine park in a virtualization project to virtualize all our production server. We have changed DNN installation from win2000 server to win2003 server and everithing work ok except for the News Feed Module.

For ALL feed links(we have tested a lot of links) we recive this error(for example):  Feed 'http://news.google.com/news?ned=it&topic=h&output=rss' could not be loaded. Error: Download error . We have DNN 04.09.00 and News Feed Modules 04.00.01. All these links can be seen correctly by the browser in the web server where DNN is and in other pc browser in our LAN.

The same things happen in another test DNN 05.00.00 installation in another server and also in my local pc installation.

What is the problem? Security permission? Proxy configuration? Other LAN settings? Can someone help us?

You might try connecting to your web server via RDP or VNC and see if you can browse the web from that machine. If so, check to see if it has a proxy server configure, if that is the case be sure to setup the proxy information on the Host Settings page.

Hi Chris,

thanks for your replay. I have tried via RDP and browsed to http://news.google.com/news?ned=it&topic=h&output=rss whit IE and I saw correctly the link. IE has a proxy server configure. So I have set proxy configuration in production DNN installation 04.09.00. I tried also other Test DNN installation 05.00.00 in the same LAN with the same proxy settings and News Feed Module still not working.

Then I have tried to test the DNN 05.00.00 installation in my local pc without a proxy configuration and set my pc to work without a proxy configuration but still doesn't work. Via IE I saw everithing but Feed Module still say "download error".

Other suggestions?

If you go to the Solutions page under the Admin menu what do you see? That page is calling an outside URL for a feed. If that isn't working I would still think it's a Proxy issue. Unfortunately I've never had to setup DNN with proxy information, so it's not something I've delt with.

Any chance your Network Admin might be of some guidance?
