I have been trying to syndicate some modules to use in other places in the portal, but have not had success. I can successfully connect to any remote rss feed, such as moreover, slashdot, cnn, etc, Do you have to do anything different to syndicate a module?
I have a similar problem, and would like some help solving it... Or at least some help in getting closer to an answer...
I have downloaded and installed DNN4.3.4, and have used the downloadable 'Starter Kit' to install the project files, and associated items to allow VS2005 to 'create a new DNN site' at a remote site (localhost here)...
I have 'created' the DNN site at http://localhost, and all works fine. I've used the same 'Starter Kit' to create a couple of custom 'modules' - they're not fancy, and they seem to work just fine... EXCEPT...
When I visit the 'settings' for the module, I check the box that tells the module to be 'syndicated' and therefore display the 'XML' icon in the lower part of the container... I return to the normal view of the module, and there is NO XML icon... No 'Syndicate' in the 'Action' dropdown menu.
Since I have been unable to get the XML icon (syndication capability) working for my custom module, I decided to create another custom module, however, this time, I DIDN'T modify it at all, other than to get it installed... I check the 'syndicated' option in the settings, and STILL there is NO XML icon or syndication capability in my new, barebones module...
SO...
What do I need to do to the 'recently created, completely default' new module in order to get my new module capable of being syndicated via RSS???
Any help is GREATLY appreciated! I will also be MORE THAN GLAD to upload some of the code involved!
