Hi,

I am using dnn 4.3.5.

I am trying to use the "niftytoggle" repository skin to display technical papers. I am entering the presenter info for the "summary" section, and the abstract (.doc.) in the "description" section.  In addition to each paper, I will have some .pdf., ppt, .wmi, avi., .mov...etc.. files. I would like to add these additional files as a link in the "description" section.  Here is my problem: When I select the link option, the file can not be attached unless it is already uploaded.  Even if I add the file to the portal, it is not available to attach so I have to upload via another module such as the documents module, then find it in the list, attach and delete the document module...... Is there a better/easier way to make this happen?  Also, I have read some forums on the "required file" attachment but I am not clear if there is a way to avoid uploading a file as I only have the abstracts at the moment and the uploaded file would only be a placeholder of no benefit?  In addition, I have noticed the "search box" feature is not availble on this particular skin, is there a way/any value added to include this feature?  I do not want to make changes to the core (if possible) but the "Title" length (characters) is too small in length...in what tables do I increase it?

All help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the current version of the Repository was designed as a 'file' repository ... a very flexible one if I do say so myself .. but a file repository none the less. Because of that, its' primary functionality is allowing you to upload a file, and allow you to attach some information to it in the form of an image, various text fields, ratings and comments, etc.

What it does not do well, is support multiple physical files associated with a single upload, and it appears that it what you are looking for it to do. The only real option at this point to to combine your files into a .zip file and upload them, the downside, of course, is that your users can't download just one of the files.

This won't help you now :)  but the May release ( 04.00.00 ) WILL support multiple files and will provide an unprecedented level of customization not only in look and feel, but in storage and processing options.

I apologize, I just noticed that I only answered 'part' of your question ... I am on my way out the door right now, I'll post replies to your other questions later tonight.
