I am having problems with the repository module, any help would be appreciated.

I cannot upload exe files using the repository module. Other file types such as xml upload ok.
I have checked the security in the folders and they have write access.
I have enabled the exe extension in file upload extension in Host Settings.
when I click on the upload button after selecting the file to upload I get the following error:
'The connection was reset' in Firefox.
'The page cannot be displayed' in I.E 6.

I am working in the following environment:
DotNetNuke Version 4.04.01
The DotNetNuke application version you are running 04.04.01
Visual Studio Professional Edition 2005
SQLServer 2005 Developer Edition
IIS 5.1

Cheers, and thanks for any help,

Doozer

How large is/are the exe file(s)? If they're over 8MB you'll have to adjust the web.config to allow for the larger file size and may have to add an executionTimeout to the same line. I know I've been able to upload .exe files in my production environment back in the DNN 3 builds and have in my test environment using every version of DNN except DNN 4.5 (just haven't got around to really testing it yet).

Hi,

In host settings, under Advanced settings, File Upload Extensions:, did you add .exe as allowable file extensions

Thank you, that fixed the size problem.

But now I get the following error message regrading the file type. I have set exe as a valid file type in the host settings, and it is listed here amongst the valid file extensions.

The File Is A Restricted File Type. Valid File Types Include ( *.swf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.gif, *.bmp, *.png, *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf, *.txt, *.xml, *.xsl, *.css, *.zip, *. exe, *.zip ). Please Contact Your Hosting Provider If You Need To Upload A File Type Which Is Not Supported

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, there was a space before exe in the host settings which stopped it from being recognised.

All fixed and working now.

Thank you for your help MikeH.
