Hello everybody,

Iam working on an intranet for a university where I expect my users to upload all kinds of stuff through different repository modules. I am sure not everyone of them will check their files for viruses before uploading.

Presently i have scheduled regular scans of the 'approved files' folder and infected files are cleaned or quarantined. However it has 2 problems:

- when infected files are cleaned, its no issue but then the intranet becomes a free virus cleaning service (at the cost of our server resources).

- when infected files are quarantined, they get removed from the 'approved files' folder and users see a CRITICAL ERROR saying "...file not found.." when they try to download this file.

I am curious to know how other experienced users handle this issue? are there any best practices?

Steve, Is there a way to check a file for viruses (at the server end) before saving it in 'approved files' folder?

Thanks in advance,

Raghu.
