i need a module by which i could upload/download files user/role wise. there is two roles Admin and User and Admin can upload/download/View all files and user can upload/download/view their own files only.

suppose there are three users Ad belongs to Admin role and Us1 and Us2 belongs to User role. i want Us1 can't access Us2 docs and vice versa.

Ad can upload files for specific user. like if Ad upload File1 for Us1 then only Us1 can access not others

Sorry, with the current version of the Repository, you cannot do that. You cannot restrict users to see only the files that they have uploaded.

Have you tried using a User Defined Table instead?

If i remember correctly, The repository module does allow you to have "groups" of files but it doesn't allow you to set permissions on that group. I would have to agree that this is the very reason that the two sites i help manage are looking for 3rd party solutions. The finance people want access to thier files but do not want the other users to have access to them. Combine that with the ability to set what roles can upload and change data, it would make the repository a good contender to go against the $200+ products that our company is forced to look at. (and being very small non profit CO makes those hard. )

I see this issue has been unassigned since Oct 07. Not sure how i can help push this as a priority but if it only had the same security like the forums, it would something that is good totally Awesome. Even if considered, only issue is that if it has been outstanding for that long, i don't see it it becoming a reality for 08 with all the testing  and release tracking track record to test such an extensive feature.
