I am interested in editing the look of the module.  I would mainly like to separate the upload section from the article display (using article skin).  I would like to allow users to upload articles and images from an upload section and display them on another own page or section of the page.  I am also interested in changing the way the catagories section is displayed.

thanks

Greg

I was wondering if it was possible to instead of having the upload section at the top of the articles display to have one page where articles are uploaded and another for viewing and searching articles.  I would also like to have a group of catagories menu's instead of just one list of catagories, mainly so that I can have sub catagories under large main catagories.  When I say Im not sure where to start I mainly mean, should I be looking at editing settings and attributes or are these changes that will need to be made in the source.  I'm very new to dotnetnuke and coding and maybe this is just over my head (I know editing the source probably will be).  This is my basic setup. (Im using IIS 7 Visual studio 2008, Visual web developer 2008 express, SQL server 2005, and the latest version of dnn).  I mainly just need a clue on where to get started.  Also is there a pdf file or something I can look at explaining the code?

The Repository module is very flexible in terms of the look and feel because it uses 'templates' to control the format of the module and the upload form. This allows the module to be used for many different purposes without having to look at or touch the source code. The best place to start in terms of looking at the Repository module as a possible solution would be to download the Admin/Users Guide on the project downloads page. It explains the templating concept which should help you see where it might work for you.

As a side note: version 3.01.14 is just about ready to be released. It's in the QA process right now and it includes a bunch of enhancements, one of which is an unlimited number of sub-categories, which is one of your requirements. You can look at the 3.01.14 thread in this forum for more information on what's new. You can also take a look at some blogs that I've written on the next major release, 4.00.00 which will be a major step forward to application building for non-developers.

Hope that helps.
